Theory and common types of thermocouples: dissimilar wires; reference junction; measuring junction; thermocouple voltage difference; plus and minus millivolts; common types and sizes of thermocouples; use of temperature-millivolt tables; series and parallel connected thermocouples; use of extension wire and its limitations; thermocouple temperature limits; wire polarity; normal and reverse polarity; reference junction table corrections; use of copper wire; grounds; and type S (temperature standard).
