Pipe Fitting - Measurement and Layout
Section A(10 hours): Interpretation of orthographic and isometric single-line piping drawings. Use of pipe and fitting symbols for threaded, flanged, and welded piping systems. Use of dimensions to locate pipe and fittings on drawings. Section B(10hours): Calculation of the cut lengths of threaded pipe required to fabricate systems made with screwed fittings and flanges. Use of pipe fitting handbook tables to determine screwed fitting and flange allowances. Section C(16 hours): Calculation of the cut lengths of pipe necessary to make piping arrangements made with butt-and-socket welding fittings and weld neck, slip-on, and lap-joint or Van Stone flanges. Use of pipe fitting handbook tables to determine butt-and-socket weld allowances and welding fitting and flange allowances.
Prerequisites: Ability to use whole numbers, fractions, and decimals in arithmetical operations; and the ability to identify common fittings and pipe schedules.
