Multistage Steam Jet Vacuum Pumps – Troubleshooting
This course covers an economical procedure for locating, identifying, and correcting common problems in metal multistage barometric condensing or non-condensing steam jet systems. The procedure involves the use of a “guide” or outline, and it is an extension of the single stage troubleshooting procedure which was taught in Course No. 21. Return of the system to production in minimum time is emphasized. Problems covered are: wear in the steam jets, blockage and leaks throughout the steam jet system and process equipment; water supply problems; low steam pressure; and back pressure. A copy of the troubleshooting guide is included for the trainee to keep for on-the-job use.
Prerequisites: Knowledge of the operating principles of single stage and multistage steam jet systems as well as troubleshooting procedures for a single stage system.
