A review of the principles and concepts involved in the control and reduction of costs in a typical business enterprise; development by the trainee of a graphical representation of all the factors that enter his or her area of responsibility; definition of commonly used terms, such as unit cost and productivity, with illustrative examples; introduction of the trainee to seven major areas of cost control normally found in most business enterprises; and a five-step cost control checklist to help the trainee set up a program of cost reduction.
